Welcome to Closutton Racing Club
We started up this club to get people racing and following horses at a very competitive price. We have mares trained by WP Mullins running at all times. We have 7 mares in Closutton right now and we’ve a brilliant record at the track so far!
6/7 horses are in training at any one time. We are leasing mares from the top breeders in Ireland with excellent pedigrees. All members are involved in all club mares. When their racing career is over we will return them to their owners for breeding purposes.
The cost is €120 per month and there is a maximum of 100 shares. All 100 shares are involved in all mares. We are all about the days out, the craic at the racecourse and celebrating wins and giving out about near wins!
We have in house competitions, merchandise and plenty of social media interaction for our shareholders. We hope you will join us on this adventure and if you want more details, contact us below.
We have horses organised and agreements made with top breeders who have been very supportive in coming to us with mares bred in the purple that they wish to lease to us with the view of getting them back as quality broodmares.

Trainer
Mullins won the British jump racing Champion Trainer title in the 2023–24 season, becoming the first trainer based in Ireland to win the championship since Vincent O'Brien in 1954. He successfully defended his title in 2024-25, beating long-time leader Dan Skelton on the last afternoon of the National Hunt season.
He is a nineteen-time Irish National Hunt Champion trainer. Mullins is the most successful trainer in the history of the Cheltenham Festival, having saddled 113 winners as of 2025. He was the trainer of the 2024 Grand National winner I Am Maximus and 2025 Grand National winner Nick Rockett.

I’m married to Jean, 3 daughters and 1 Son. Self employed Jeweller and trophy medal retailer based in Cahir Co.Tipperary. Keen interest in sport one of the founding members of Girls soccer in south Tipp and served many years as Secretary and Treasurer of the Tipperary Schoolboys/Girls Southern & District League. Horse Racing was always a passion of mine and I’m delighted to be a part of Closutton Racing Club. Looking forward to meeting ye all at the track.

Philip Gleeson

Philip is a social media entrepreneur and previous owner of QuickestFox Marketing, the 1st Irish marketing company to get over 100 million social media impacts in a week in 2016.
Philip has dedicated his life to social causes and is a previous national director of Arthritis Ireland. Philip is a dad to 5 humans and 4 chickens and is married to Clare. He attended his first race meeting in Galway aged 7 and has been going since.

Married to Julieanne with 2 little girls, Erin and Siún to keep me busy. National Hunt Racing has always been a huge passion of mine. For the past 5 years I’ve been the Racing Correspondent for Tipp Fm which has brought me from Thurles to Cheltenham and from Leopardstown to Aintree.
Really looking forward to the journey ahead and getting to meet all Closutton Racing Clubs members with as much success as possible along the way.
